Colombia placed 1st runner-up in 1981 (Nini Johanna Soto González), 1983 (Rocío Isabel Luna Flórez), 1996 (Carolina Arango Corrales), and 2002 (Natalia Peralta Castro). The South American nation has also placed 2nd runner-up in 1989 (Mónica María Isaza Mejía), 3rd runner-up in 1968 (Beatriz Eutiquia Sierra Gonzalez), and 4th runner-up in 1987 (Claudia Mercedes Escobar Zapata).
The Colombian representative to the Miss World pageant is selected at the Miss Mundo Colombia pageant which started in 1990. Prior to this, the Colombian representative has been selected at the Senorita Colombia pageant, which currently holds the Miss Universe and Miss International franchises.
